MacElree Harvey Attorney Appointed to Domestic Violence Center Board of Directors
Jane Shields continues her support of organization she helped incorporate 25 years ago.
West Chester, PA, September 20, 2010 - The law firm of MacElree Harvey announced today that Jane M. Shields, attorney in the firm's Land Use and Litigation departments, has been appointed to the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County's Board of Directors. The appointment carries a three-year term.
The Domestic Violence Center of Chester County (DVCCC) provides intervention, education, outreach, advocacy and programs to prevent, reduce and remedy domestic violence. All services are free and confidential and are available in the Center's offices in West Chester, Coatesville, Kennett Square, and Oxford. In addition, a DVCCC Counselor/Advocate focuses on the Phoenixville area to provide services to northern Chester County. The organization was founded in 1976 and nine years later, was fully incorporated. Ms. Shields provided legal assistance to the DVCCC during its incorporation and has helped them with legal issues on other occasions since.
Ms. Shields is pleased to expand her involvement with the Center by serving on the Board. "The DVCCC is vital to the residents of Chester County. Domestic violence occurs in the lives of the rich and the poor, of those with children and without. Every racial, social and economic group experiences it and the Center serves as a safe haven and resource for all. I am pleased to be working with such an important social service provider."
Ms. Shields has been practicing law for over 30 years and concentrates on issues related to land use and zoning, commercial litigation and administrative proceedings. Ms. Shields is a graduate of Temple University School of Law and Purdue University. She dedicates her time to West Chester community involvement and serves on the board of the West Chester Cycling Classic.
