The objective of the Super Lawyer designation is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel.

The Super Lawyers selection process involves three steps:

• Creation of a candidate pool through Peer Nominations;
• Super Lawyers' staff research of candidates regarding such things as verdicts, settlements, experience, honors and awards, special licenses and certifications, position within law firms, lectures and writings, and others; and
• Peer Review by other attorneys in the field.

Only 5% of the lawyers in the jurisdiction can be recognized as Super Lawyers. 

The selection process for Rising Stars is the same as the Super Lawyers selection process, except that:

• To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less; and
• Candidates for Rising Stars do not go through Step 3 above - Peer Review.

No more than 2.5% of the lawyers in the jurisdiction can be recognized as Rising Stars.
