"The subject of the seminar is important to accountants, attorneys and the public," said Nelson. The May 11 seminar is being sponsored by the Pennsylvania Institute for Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania East State Chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. The seminar will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the educational center of the PICPA at 1650 Arch Street. The program is designed to give an update on the 2005 Divorce Code Amendment. The presentation will be based on a hypothetical scenario and what needs to be done by the accounting professional. The topics will include:
Nelson will walk participants through a hypothetical scenario and highlight best practices in divorce accounting and valuation. The planners of the program are Ann Marie Albert, CPA of Gocial Gerstein, LLC and Susan M. Saidens, CPA of SMS Valuation & Forensic Services, LLC. Nelson, a graduate of Boston College and Villanova School of Law, practices commercial litigation and family at MacElree Harvey. He was admitted to the Delaware and Pennsylvania bars in 1991. He has been a member of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board's Hearing Committee since 2001. He has also served on several committees for the Chester County Bar Association, including The Law Explorer's Committee (Chair, 1993-present), Young Lawyers' Division (Chair, 1998), the Nominating Committee (1996, 1997), the Mentoring Committee (1999-2001), the Judicial Evaluation Committee (Chair, 2002), and the Board of Directors (January 2003-present). Other organizations Nelson gives his time to include the Pennsylvania State Bar Association, where he served on the Task Force on Balance and Quality of Life from 1999 to 2001, as well as the Delaware State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Inns of Court (John E.
