The members of the Chester County law firm of MacElree Harvey
raised $800 for the March of Dimes during a "dress down" day,
held in April at the firm. "MacElree Harvey encourages our members to become
involved in worthwhile community projects," says Lance J. Nelson,
managing partner of the firm. "The March of Dimes event was a success." To raise money, staff members each gave a $5 donation in
order to wear jeans, sneakers and sweatshirts to work. The firm then made
a matching contribution. Attorney Shannon K. Brophy suggested the firm participate
in the fundraising event. Brophy wrote to the firm: "My family is
raising money for the March of Dimes this year. We lost my cousin and
her baby girl due to complications from eclampsia and have organized a
team to walk in their memory. My sister is doing the literal legwork,
but any support for her would be greatly appreciated." Eclampsia is otherwise unexplained seizures during pregnancy. Many women who become pregnant later in life are at risk. |
