Alexander J. Chotkowski, a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom II, gave two talks in connection with area Veterans' Day celebrations. On Wednesday, November 9, 2005, Chotkowski was a speaker at an event in West Chester at the Elks Lodge. On Saturday, November 12, 2005, he was the guest of honor and keynote speaker at the General Smedley Butler Marine Corps League detachment dinner in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Colonel William T. Wilson of MacElree Harvey also spoke at the West Chester event on November 9. Wilson, a member of the United States Army's 353rd Civil Affairs Command, most recently served as Military Assistant to the Director, Iraq Reconstruction Management Office, Baghdad. "It was a great honor to be selected as a speaker for these Veterans' Day events, Chotkowski said. "Veterans deserve to be remembered for their sacrifices for our country. Chotkowski received a commission from the United States Marine Corps in August 1994, after completing Officer Candidate School. He completed Naval Justice School in Newport, R.I., and was certified as a Marine Judge Advocate on October 1, 1997. His first tour of duty was performed at Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, S.C. There he served as the Chief Military Prosecutor and Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina. Chotkowski was promoted to his current rank of Major on March 1, 2004. Since returning from his tour in Iraq, Chotkowski practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation at MacElree Harvey.
