Collaborative problem-solving is at the core of her practice

It was the example of two uncles-both interesting people, she says, and both committed to their profession as attorneys-that inspired Jane M. Shields to enter Temple University's School of Law after graduating from Purdue University. Today, Jane specializes in employment law, commercial litigation, and land use, and like her uncles, she feels that her work is engaging and rewarding.

"Land use is a fascinating, complex area of law that provides the opportunity to work with other professionals to accomplish something productive," Jane says. "I like to say that my work is solving problems, and there are plenty of issues to work with in land use, commercial litigation and the workplace. It is very satisfying to help clients achieve their goals in completing projects, resolving disputes, and smoothing out employment relationships."

Jane has served as law clerk to the Honorable Robert S. Gawthrop III of the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County and also served as that court's staff attorney. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates.

Over the years, Jane has been active in the community and has served on many municipal boards and commissions. She is currently a Supervisor in Wallace Township and Chairman of the Brandywine Regional Police Commission. She is also a member of the board of the Chester County Cycling Classic. "In my spare time," Jane says, "I enjoy bicycling, usually with a group, which makes it a very sociable way to get a good aerobic workout and see a lot of the countryside."
