As a student, Michael G. Louis decided he wanted to be a lawyer so he could help people. Today, after 25 years practicing law at MacElree Harvey, he hasn't lost any of his idealism.

"I grew up in Wilmington and thought I would practice there," Michael says. "But when I interviewed with MacElree Harvey I liked the people and I liked Chester County. My instincts were correct. This is a great place to 'make a difference.' Plus, I've had several mentors here, including Bill Gallagher and John A. Featherman. You could not ask for better attorneys or better men to emulate."

Michael, a MacElree Harvey partner, practices commercial litigation: obtaining or defending actions for preliminary injunctions; filing confessions of judgment for money or possession for commercial landlords; and filing mechanic's liens. He also handles bankruptcy work for debtors and creditors. In addition, Michael has extensive experience in mortgage foreclosures, collections and loan workouts, general counsel work, and real estate litigation.

For the past 12 years, Michael has been involved with the Interfaith Housing Assistance Corporation, a volunteer-run agency that helps families find housing so they won't be homeless. He is a Past President and member of the West Chester Lions Club, and is active in the First Presbyterian Church of West Chester. He has also worked with the West Side Little League – serving as coach for nine years and secretary for seven. Because of his work with the community, Michael was chosen as a Community Hero Torch Bearer and carried the Olympic Torch through West Chester as it made its way to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Michael and his wife live in West Chester and have three children attending college. They recently celebrated their 25 th wedding anniversary with a trip to France.

Michael is a graduate of the University of Delaware and the Dickinson School of Law.
