MacElree Harvey, Ltd. is proud to announce that Mary E. Lawrence, Criminal Defense Attorney in our West Chester office, has been named to Main Line Today’s 2025 “20 Emerging Leaders Under 40 to Watch” list. This list honors young professionals across the western suburbs who are making a significant impact in their fields and communities.
At 29 years old, Mary has established herself as a dedicated advocate in the field of criminal defense. While she didn’t always envision herself becoming an attorney, Mary’s passion for advocacy emerged early – staying up late as a child reading books, connecting deeply with characters, and instinctively defending their decisions.
After earning her degree in criminology from Penn State University, Mary pursued her J.D. at Drexel University. She was drawn to criminal defense because of the personal nature of the work. “I wanted my work to feel personal – and behind every allegation, there’s a person with their own story,” Mary explains. “The criminal justice system is inherently punitive, and the system only works for the innocent if those who are culpable get the same level of defense.”
In addition to her work at MacElree Harvey, Mary is an active member of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce and its NextGen group, connecting with other professionals to strengthen the local business and civic community.
We congratulate Mary on this well-deserved honor and look forward to seeing the continued impact she will make in the legal community. Learn more about Criminal Defense attorney Mary E. Lawrence at macelree.com/attorney/mary-e-lawrence.
